HSTC players participated in a mixed doubles league, a men’s doubles league and a ladies doubles league in 2023. The Ladies Dales League was the first to finish, and Spa 2 were due to play Ripon 1 in the final on 22 July, but heavy rain forced the postponement until October. Congratulations to the winners, runners-up, and indeed all who participated in a splendid set of matches! Finals day results On 9th September – a steaming hot late summer day – there was some excellent play in front of an enthusiastic audience able to watch from the new terrace for the first time.    Chris Reynolds beat Will Rogers to take the Men’s Singles title. Spa Tennis had the privilege of hosting training sessions for the GB Women’s Seniors team over several days in August – the forerunner of what we hope will be a lot of high-level play at our new courts. The team is going from strength to strength with the Super Seniors (50-60+) coming 5th, and Seniors (40-54 years) 8th, at the FIP Senior European Padel Championships in Spain in June. Jon & Liz’s 24-hour challenge

After an hour or two of tennis or padel these days, many of us are ready for a good nap – so the prospect of playing for 24 hours straight is mind-boggling; but that’s just what club members Jon Hipkin and Liz Hickling did last month, raising over £2,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in the process, as well as funds for the club. The remarkable and inspirational feat of endurance finished at midday on
